Data leaks and data breaches are inevitable in this day and age, however, there are ways to help keep your accounts and passwords safe such as using 2FA (Two Factor Authenticator) among other options. TechRadar researchers have reported that they located a file called rockyou2024.txt which appears to contain nearly 10 billion unique passwords that have been collected online overtime from various leaks over the past 20 years or so, this file is a simple .txt file therefore it's not password protected and anyone can access it.

Attackers have added about 1.5 billion of these passwords to this file from 2021 to this year alone. An interesting fact is that all of these passwords are unique meaning there are no duplicates, it is hard to wrap your head around that many passwords.

On that note, make sure that you are using a strong password combination, set up a 2FA whenever possible, and use a password manager, which will prevent perpetrators from breaking into your account without access to your trusted device, whether that’s a smartphone or an authenticator app.
